Crowdsourcing, BYOE, Operational Compliance, and Gamification – all seemingly different in their own right – have one larger characteristic in common. They all have the potential to dramatically impact employee – and enterprise – performance. These new learning trends have the power to improve collaboration across your global offices, increase employee engagement and new idea generation, and support compliance and risk mitigation efforts.
We all know that it can be challenging to create, edit, and manage learning content across a dispersed team. This is especially true when tracking feedback from multiple authors and editors. Although crowdsourcing has long served as a great resource to inform purchasing decisions, it is now evolving to unite organizational workforces through increased collaboration and productivity. When organizations can centralize content management and provide multi-language capabilities, they ensure quality and adherence to standards and deliver authoring power to team members across the globe.
ANCILE has introduced additional crowd-sourced authoring capabilities in our ANCILE uPerform™ 5 release. With the addition of content task assignments and a simple Rapid Recorder tool, subject matter experts can easily record and deliver procedural documents that capture their unique expertise. And support for over 30 languages – including our latest, Arabic – ensures that global organizations can easily support authors and employees.
BYOE (Bring Your Own Efficiency to Work)
According to Gartner, half of all enterprises are expected to embrace BYOD by 2017 as more employees are using their personal devices (smartphones, laptops, and tablets) to access company data and applications. But what does this really mean for workforce efficiency?
You can expect BYOD to evolve into BYOE as businesses will begin to incorporate always-on devices for greater workforce efficiency, no matter the location. This learning method will not only help employees leverage vital software and learning content, while offsite, but will drastically increase offsite productivity and reduce costs across an organization.
Organizations are resting a bit easier now that the FACTA portal is 6 months away, but pressure from the Sarbanes-Oxley Act remains. In order to comply with these policies, organizations will need to emphasize communications with clients, employees, and partners – while ensuring their businesses are capable of implementing these processes.
Our CTO Alan Young, recently spoke with The Wall Street Journal, to share how organizations can use new technologies to ensure operational compliance and alignment to ease investor concerns and avoid penalties and risks. Specifically, he addressed the growing “intersection of technology and business” which is particularly important for businesses looking to comply with these regulatory requirements.
As enterprises look to make sense of new policies, they will need insights into valuable data such as website usage and help request reports to determine which employees are struggling (and where more training or performance support would be beneficial) and where content is under-used. Tools such as ANCILE uAlign™, which allow organizations to deliver critical communications and procedures – and confirm receipt and comprehension – can be a key element of compliance efforts.
Gartner predicts “by 2015, 40% of Global 1000 organizations will use gamification as the primary mechanism to transform business operations.” Saatchi&Saatchi even notes that 75% of surveyed 18-45 year-olds currently engage gamification in their personal lives and are “excite[ed] about gamification as a corporate initiative.” This has proven true today, as companies are now looking into common video-game techniques such as points, badges, and leader boards to make their websites and training more interactive and to reward employees for their contributions.
Gamification also appeals to social factors intrinsic in humans such as social capital, self-esteem, and desire to interact. Human nature expert, Gallup Research, even estimates that disengaged employees cost U.S. employers a staggering $450 to $550 billion in lost productivity per year.
During our development of ANCILE uAlign, we incorporated ‘kudos’ elements that display an individual’s progress. With the help of elements such as these, companies can create captivating, interactive content that can lead to positive businesses outcomes such as innovation disruption, employee performance management, and personal development.
